phpBB 3.1, 3.2: How to update the CleanTalk Anti-Spam Extension manually

If you have the error:

General Error SQL ERROR [ mysqli ] Field 'ct_marked' doesn't have a default value
Install the latest version of CleanTalk using this isntruction, this will solve the problem automatically.
General Error SQL ERROR [ mysqli ] Table 'phpbb_config_text' doesn't exist
Replace "cleantalk" folder from the newer version in your /root/ext and click "Delete data" once again.

Text version

  1. Make backup copies of your forum files and database.
  2. Go to phpBB Administrator Panel —> CUSTOMISE. In "EXTENSION MANAGEMENT —> Manage extensions" section find "Antispam by CleanTalk" and press "Disable" in its row.
  3. Confirm your actions on the next page by clicking "Disable" one more time.
  4. After disabling the extension click the line "Return to the extension list".
  5. In the "Disabled Extensions" table find "Antispam by CleanTalk" and press "Delete data".
  6. Confirm your actions on the next page by clicking "Delete data" one more time.
  7. After successful the extension data deletion go to the folder "<phpBB-root-folder>/ext" and delete the folder "cleantalk".
  8. Download the extension archive from CleanTalk (the link is at the beginning of this page or use the link given to you personally), place it in "<phpBB-root-folder>/ext". Unzip the content of the archive in that folder. As the result you will get a new folder with the anti-spam extension "<phpBB-root-folder>/ext/cleantalk".
  9. Go back to the tab CUSTOMISE, refresh the page. In the "Disabled Extensions" table the new version of the extension "Antispam by CleanTalk" will appear. Enable it and confirm the enabling on the next page.
  10. Go to the tab EXTENSIONS. In "ANTI-SPAM BY CLEANTALK —> Spam protection settings" section setup the extension, make sure that the access key matches the key from your CleanTalk Control Panel. Then press the button "Submit".
  11. (Optional) Test the protection by making a registration using the blacklisted e-mail stop_email@example.com.

 

Congratulations. The Anti-Spam is updated!

9. Go back to the tab CUSTOMISE, refresh the page. In the "Disabled Extensions" table the new version of the extension "Antispam by CleanTalk" will appear. Enable it and confirm the enabling on the next page.
