CleanTalk Inc. (“CleanTalk,” “we,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your personal data and ensuring transparency in how it is used.
We collect limited data such as IP addresses, submitted email addresses for spam checks, URLs and form data from our clients’ websites, and technical metadata required for service functionality.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (e.g., health, religion, political views). Clients should exclude such data via: cleantalk.org/help/exclusion-from-anti-spam-checking
Data is retained for 7 or 45 days depending on the service plan, then deleted automatically.
We use personal data only to provide, maintain, and improve our anti-spam services, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.

DPF Privacy Policy for CleanTalk

1. Introduction
CleanTalk is committed to protecting the privacy and security of personal data. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data in accordance with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF), the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, and the Swiss-U.S. DPF.
CleanTalk complies with the EU-U.S. DPF, the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, and the Swiss-U.S. DPF as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce. CleanTalk has certified to the U.S. Department of Commerce that it adheres to the Data Privacy Framework Principles ("DPF Principles"). If there is any conflict between the terms in this privacy policy and the DPF Principles, the DPF Principles shall govern. 2. Scope
This Policy applies to all personal data received by CleanTalk in the United States from the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, in any format, including electronic, paper, or verbal.
3. Types of Personal Data Collected
CleanTalk collects and processes the following categories of personal data:
- IP address
- Email address
- Website URL
- User agent string
- Form submission content (if applicable)
- Timestamp
- Browser metadata
In addition, for the purposes of spam detection and service security, CleanTalk may also collect certain technical and behavioral information, including:
- behavioral interaction data such as typing speed, mouse movements, and interaction timing;
- browser fingerprint data, including browser type and version, operating system, time zone, screen resolution, fonts, and user-agent parameters;
- anonymized records of blocked spam IP addresses, including IP, approximate geolocation, frequency of access attempts, and hashed identifiers.
These data are used exclusively to identify spam or malicious activity and are not used to profile individuals or track behavior beyond the scope of CleanTalk’s anti-spam and security services.
4. Purpose of Data Collection
We collect and use personal data for the following purposes:
- Spam prevention and filtering
- Security monitoring and firewall
- Service improvement and analytics
- Customer support and communication
5. Data Retention
CleanTalk retains collected data for up to 7 days or 45 days depending on the selected service plan. Data may be anonymized and used in aggregate for statistical purposes.
6. DPF Principles
6.1 Notice
CleanTalk informs individuals about:
- The types of personal data we collect
- The purposes for which we collect and use personal data
- The type or identity of third parties to which we disclose personal data
- The purposes for which we disclose data to third parties
- The choices and means we offer individuals for limiting the use and disclosure of their personal data
- How individuals can contact CleanTalk with inquiries or complaints
6.2 Choice
Individuals have the opportunity to opt out of:
- The disclosure of their personal data to third parties
- The use of their personal data for purposes materially different from those for which it was originally collected
6.3 Accountability for Onward Transfer
CleanTalk will transfer personal data only to third parties that have contractual agreements requiring them to provide at least the same level of protection as required by the DPF Principles. CleanTalk remains responsible for the processing of personal data it receives under the DPF and subsequently transfers to a third party.
In the context of onward transfers, CleanTalk is accountable for the processing of personal data it receives, under the EU-U.S. DPF and the UK Extension to EU-U.S. DPF, and subsequently transfers to a third party acting as an agent on its behalf. CleanTalk remains liable under the EU-U.S. DPF Principles, and the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF if the CleanTalk’s agent processes personal information in a manner inconsistent with the EU-U.S. DPF Principles, and the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, unless CleanTalk proves that it is not responsible for the event giving rise to damage.
In certain situations, CleanTalk may be required to disclose personal data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.
6.4 Security
CleanTalk implements reasonable and appropriate technical, physical, and administrative measures to protect personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Measures include encrypted storage, access control, role-based access, and security audits.
6.5 Data Integrity and Purpose Limitation
CleanTalk limits personal data to what is relevant for the purposes of processing and ensures it is accurate, complete, and current. Personal data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the stated purposes.
6.6 Access
Individuals have the right to access their personal data and request correction, amendment, or deletion if it is inaccurate or processed in violation of the DPF Principles. Requests can be submitted to support@cleantalk.org.
6.7 Recourse, Enforcement and Liability
In compliance with the EU-U.S. DPF, the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, and the Swiss-U.S. DPF, CleanTalk commits to refer unresolved complaints concerning our handling of personal data received in reliance on the EU-U.S. DPF, the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, and the Swiss-U.S. DPF to TRUSTe, an alternative dispute resolution provider based in the United States. If you do not receive timely acknowledgment of your DPF Principles-related complaint from us, or if we have not addressed your DPF Principles-related complaint to your satisfaction, please visit https://feedback-form.trustarc.com/watchdog/request for more information or to file a complaint. These dispute resolution services are provided at no cost to you.
In compliance with the DPF Principles, CleanTalk is subject to the investigatory and enforcement powers of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
For complaints regarding EU-U.S. DPF, the UK Extension to the EU-U.S DPF, and Swiss-U.S. DPF compliance not resolved by any of the other DPF mechanisms, you have the possibility, under certain conditions, to invoke binding arbitration. 7. Annual Verification
CleanTalk will renew its DPF self-certification annually through the official Data Privacy Framework portal at https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov and ensure continued adherence to the DPF Principles.
8. Changes to This Policy
CleanTalk may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal or operational requirements. We will notify individuals of any material changes through our website.
